Members of Cardiff libraries can book a slot to browse bookshelves for the first time since their closures at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic.  

The reopening of libraries is part of Cardiff Council’s recovery of community services since their closures over a year ago. 

Customers can visit their preferred hub or library and have 25 minutes to view the books they’d like to borrow.  

Before this, Cardiff’s libraries only offered click and collect services and people were not able to browse because of Coronavirus restrictions. 

South Wales author, Karla Brading, thinks the reopening’s will have a positive impact on communities.   

Karla said: “Being able to wander around a library and choose books is part of the enjoyment of reading. 

“Some people can’t afford to go online and choose stacks of books, libraries offer that chance for people looking to delve into literature.

“My 5 year old daughter has missed visiting the library so much, we can’t wait to bring home armfuls of books again after such a long time.”
