A group of Cardiff university students have put together a local food bank collection on Miskin Street in Cardiff after being disappointed with the Governments lack of support for the vulnerable. The group set up their donation point from 11am-4pm on January 23rd as well as arranging several collection points around Talybont and encouraged students to get involved.
All collected items including food, cleaning products and sanitary products will be donated to Trussel Trust, Cardiff, where they will be passed on to those in need. The team are hoping to make the collection a monthly event.
The food bank collection took place with social distancing, mask wearing and hand sanitising in place to minimise COVID-19 risks.
Organisers of the event say have they received more than double what they were expecting and are very overwhelmed with the kindness and generosity from the people of Cardiff .
