Storm Dennis has revaged thousands of homes and businesses over the weekend, bringing a months worth of rain in three days, bursting river banks and creating landslides.

And the storm isn’t over. The Met Office has warned that there is more bad weather to come.

Rez Jamal, owner of gift shop Kookoo Madame in Pontypridd, spoke about what it was like to find his shop completely destroyed by the floods, “It was unbelievable, nothing prepared us for what we witnessed when we came here.

“This is our livelihood. We’ve been here for 12 years and everything we’ve built over the last twelve years has been shattered and destroyed.”

Bute Park in Cardiff has been flooded due to the high rise of water in the River Taff. Other areas of south Wales including Merthyr Tydfil, Pontypridd and Treforest were some of those affected.

Natural Resources Wales had eight flood warnings in place last night and 6.5 inches of rain fell between Friday and Sunday. The heavy rain and flooding has affected transport with multiple lines closed due to flood damage.

Rhondda Cynon Taf council leader Andrew Morgan has said that £1million will be put towards a clean-up operation.
