A shop which sells a curated collection of clothes donated to charity has opened in Cardiff. Charity Super.mkt is a pop up, filled with pre-loved items from an array of charities and it opened its doors for the first time in the city.

Holly, a keen shopper, said that her reasons for buying pre-loved are “a bit of both” – ethical and saving money. For her, it’s about finding something different that “not everybody else has”.

Another shopper Zella said that other vintage shops in Cardiff can be expensive. She found that Charity Super.mkt was a good in-between for her spending.
Sarah from the Royal Ballet and Opera House was selling some of the performers’ costumes. She said: “It’s lovely to see it have another life.” Their donation is part of a sustainability project where costumes get redirected from landfill.

The aim of Charity Super.mkt is to bring empty retail units in towns and cities back to life in spaces where charity shops would not otherwise be able to afford the costs of these prime locations. It raises money for 10 charities including Barnardo’s and Cancer Research.
