Cafe owner Marco Zeraschi is optimistic about the future of Barry Island

“Everybody thinks Barry Island is about Gavin and Stacey. They forget what the foundation is,” says Marco Zeraschi, who owns the cafe on the prom, made famous by the TV series.

“As long as we’ve got that beach there, Barry Island will always be busy and thriving.”

Over the past two decades, Gavin and Stacey has attracted tourists from around the world to Barry Island. The Christmas special – the last episode ever – brought a new boost.

Marco, who has worked on the Island for 55 years, expects business to thrive well into the future.
