Cardiff Field of Remembrance opens at Cardiff Castle

30,000 crosses were laid in the six Fields of Remembrance across Wales, in tribute to those who died

Hundreds of people have visited the Cardiff Field of Remembrance which opened today at Cardiff Castle. It’s one of six sites in Wales, set up by the Royal British Legion ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Tributes have been laid on crosses in memory of those who have died fighting for their country. There are 30,000 crosses altogether across the six Welsh sites.

Social Justice Secretary Jane Hutt read an extract of the poem For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon he ceremony to open the Cardiff Field of Remembrance.

The Fields of Remembrance will be open to the public until 12th November.
