Cycling enthusiasts creates business to give people in Cardiff a more eco friendly way to travel.
Cargo bikes have been around for one hundred years, but this will be one of the first business’s in the country to sell them.
Business owner of, Cardiff Cargo Bikes said: “We will be opening in spring 2022, selling cargo bikes designed by industry veterans, ‘Harry Vs Larry, and we are the first to do this’.
This will bring families and business’s a new way to travel.”
The cargo bike is known for being comfortable on school runs or daily deliveries, described as ‘light and responsive.’ and ideal for such a flat surfaced city, like Cardiff.
Dave, the owner, also hopes the new business will improve peoples physical and mental health as well as environmental factors, with 27% of the UK’s greenhouse gases being from transportation.
International student, Marieke Bergwerff, from the Netherlands, learnt to cycle when she was just four years old, and she said: “I think biking saves a lot of time and is good for my mental health, and a big environment plus.
I have also seen lots of families using cargo bikes to get their children to school, so if they work as well as they do in my country, then hopefully, they can work in this country as well.”
These cargo bikes start at around five thousand grand, and come in different varieties and styles.
The business will be teaming up with Green Commute Initiative to help buyers save up to 47% on the RRP off the bike.
And Cardiff cargo bikes believe ‘when making an investment in something as vunerable as a cargo bike, you need confidence, honestly and no nonsense advice.’ Which is what they can provide.
So, test ride or even purchase, to help Dave’s mission to ‘bring the Cargo bike to Cardiff.’
