Get a taste of Portugal in Cardiff!

Pastéis de nata is a traditional Portuguese custard tart

Coffee shops and bakery franchises can be found on every corner of the city. There are so many that sometimes we can feel tired of them. That is why it is always refreshing to come across a new, independent shop, that feels different from the others.
If you are looking for something just like that, you should pop into Bruno’s and discover some Portuguese flavours.

The little bakery tucked away in Diana Street is a real gem, with great coffee, fresh bread and of course, the famous pastéis de nata.
The warm interior and appetising display are likely to convince anyone to step in and treat themselves to something delicious.

Bruno Pinho, the owner of the shop, moved to Wales almost two decades ago. He developed his baking skills and recipes in his hometown, Porto. He brought these to the UK, where he hoped to introduce a bit of his culture to a wider customer base.

Bruno’s signature pastéis de nata became famous when award-winning chef and food journalist, Nigel Slater featured his recipe on BBC’s Eating Together programme.

Now, these custard tarts are freshly baked here in Cardiff and can be enjoyed by everyone. So why not go and try it yourself next time when you are in Roath?
