Senedd, Cardiff.

Victims of Cardiff’s cladding scandal gathering outside Cardiff’s Senedd yesterday to protest against their ongoing plight of living in unsalable, fire defective homes. The danger came to light after the Grenfell Fire in 2017 when apartments in Cardiff were found to have similar flammable cladding

The Welsh Government are funding re-cladding on social housing, but many private leaseholders are still facing both the costs of re cladding and interim safety costs The safety work is expected to be in the region of £60,000 per apartment.

The protest was hosted by the Welsh Liberal Democrats and saw speeches from Jane Dodds MS, Councillor Rhys Taylor and talks from leaseholders of the unsafe homes.
