Crowds gather in Cardiff for a vigil in Ashling Murphy’s memory

Grangetown, Cardiff, 19/01/2022 Grangetown residents gather together to remember the life of Ashling Murphy, a Primary School teacher, who was murdered while out on a run in Ireland. Candles were placed around the communities gazebo to honour her and to come together and tackle violence to women.

A vigil in memory of the 23-year-old Ashling Murphy, a Primary School teacher, who was murdered while out on a run was held at Grange Gardens tonight. The event which was followed by a short run from Grangetown to the Senedd using the hashtag #shewentforarun.

Candles were placed around the bandstand to honour Ashling and other young women, including 18-year-old Lily Sullivan who was found dead in Pembroke the week before Christmas, as well as women who died as a result of domestic violence.
