Tributes have been paid to a Welsh Ambulance Service call handler who has sadly passed away.

Louise Thomas, from Cefn Hengoed, was a 999 EMS call hander based in Cwmbran after joining the Welsh Ambulance service in August 2019.

Louise, 28, had a genetic condition and had been receiving treatment for cancer. She died on April 9th.

Penny Durrant, the trust’s clinical contact centre manager in Cwmbran, said: “Louise was a popular and valued member of the team, and despite the challenges with her health resulting in periods of absence, she was always eager to return to the job that she loved.

“Louise’s loss has been felt deeply by everyone here at Vantage Point House in Cwmbran and I’m sure all of us at #TeamWAST extend our deepest sympathies to Louise’s family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.

Her colleague Kayleigh Donaldson said: “Louise loved life and knew how to have fun. Her positive thinking and funny wit always got us laughing every single shift.

“She loved the job and being part of ‘Team Green’ and it was an absolute pleasure to have known her.”

Her funeral will take place next week.
