University of South Wales student Elle Young has scooped a hard earned silver medal at the 2020 BUCS National Judo Championships in Sheffield this month.

Elle competed in the 1st Kyu grade and above 70kgs category as the only representative of the University of South Wales.

Medallists from world and European competitions were present at the event, including a number of British champions.

Young was beaten by Emily Niven from Portsmouth University in the final which took place at iceSheffield. Second place has secured the 20-year old a place at the European Universities Games happening this July.

Elle, who is a first year chiropractic student, travels from university to Bristol every week to train and will be traveling to Serbia to participate in the summer competition as 1 of over 5500 participants competing in several sports.
